Being musically inclined, I have lounge music playing while I work. One of the numbers "If Tomorrow Never Comes” has now prompted me to stop everything else and write this piece. It also served as a reminder to a discussion we had earlier this morning on the team call about the touch and go situation one of our team members faced due to the cloud burst at Mandi and reflecting on what happened in Wayanad.
The song's haunting question, "If tomorrow never comes," compels us to reflect on the impermanence of life and the importance of acting in the now. What if tomorrow doesn't arrive as we expect? What if the chances we thought we had suddenly slip away?
We often postpone expressing our feelings, pursuing our dreams, and completing our tasks, assuming we will have another chance. However, the reality is that time waits for no one. The unfinished business of today becomes the regret of tomorrow.
To overcome procrastination, we must recognize the value of our time and the significance of our actions. Setting clear goals, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and prioritizing our responsibilities can help us stay on track. It is essential to cultivate a sense of urgency and remind ourselves that the future is not guaranteed.
While many of us may be fans of Ronan Keating, let the message he brings via the lyrics help us to live meaningfully today. Let us not defer our dreams, our duties, or our declarations of love and gratitude. By doing so, we ensure that, regardless of what tomorrow brings, we have lived with intention and purpose.
So, as the song suggests, let us cherish each moment and act with the knowledge that tomorrow is uncertain. As the title of another great number suggests - It's Now or Never!
